The Woodshop |
We offer a selection of wood turnings, from basic and inexpensive local pine bowls to art pieces and urns. |
There's usually some furniture in stock. The Western themed dining table at right is executed in local blue pine with turned legs and calf roping rope inlaid in the top. In the background are some antique pressback chairs with caned seats. It's an eclectic mix. |
BHSW is primarily a publishing business, creating magazine stories and books about woodworking. We also publish historic and Western postcard sets, and photographic history books about the Black Hills, the working cowboys, and even Colorado. The store stocks a few reproduction photographs from the region's history, too. |
We make wooden gift items such as the easy-to-clean birdhouses shown here (pull the perch and a plastic pipe falls out), and our novelty "Magic" bottle holders that hold wine or other bottles at seemingly impossible angles. |
John's woodworking books are all available here, as are some larger wood turnings such as the local boxelder pieces shown. |
Above are birdhouses made by a local artists, along with a selection of pen blanks in many species and pen kits to go with them. We also carry bottle stopper blanks and kits. And below is a selection of mostly iron Western accent hardware that is used to decorate cowboy furniture or contribute to a room's ambiance. |
At left, below, are some antique pressback 'project' chairs that are ready for restoration and priced to go. And the image at right below is a detail of some of our penmaking supplies. |
